Job Summary/Description:

KPLC-TV in Lake Charles is looking for a dynamic MMJ to join our team. This hybrid role demands a motivated candidate who is passionate about telling stories in both news and sports.

While news is the primary responsibility, this role is flexible as major sports stories develop. In this role, a journalist will work closely with both sports and news managers to coordinate schedules and assignments. Additionally, during peak sports seasons, this MMJ will report in the field, fill in as sports anchor as needed, help coordinate sports coverage and CTV shows, and highlight outstanding local athletes. A candidate must be able to write/shoot/edit stories for broadcast, digital, and social platforms, report live from various sporting events, gather news content, and deliver breaking news.

Qualifications/Requirements:

- Requirements include having or pursuing a degree in Journalism or a related field, previous work or internship in journalism is a plus, must be able to identify great video and compelling sound bites, have solid news judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to write clearly and concisely.
- Must also be able to meet deadlines, multitask in a fast-paced environment, and stay flexible with respect to scheduling and/or assigned work shifts.
- MVR is also required.
