The Random House Publishing Group is seeking a creative and strategic Publicist with experience in comics and graphic novel publishing to join the BOOM! and Inklore teams.
Dual reporting to the Marketing Manager at BOOM! And the Senior Manager of Communications and Brand Strategy at Inklore, this is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative department as the PR representative of two imprints dedicated to publishing world-class comic book, manga/manhwa, and graphic novel storytelling. The BOOM! team has produced bestselling, award-winning original work, including Keanu Reeves' BRZRKR, Something is Killing the Children, and Lumberjanes, while also breaking new ground with established licenses such as Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Dune, and The Expanse properties. The Inklore team publishing the best in manga, manhua, manhwa, webcomics adaptations, and light novels for the English-language market. Some of the internationally recognized brands we publish include Lore Olympus, Under the Oak Tree, Heaven Official's Blessing, and Cherry Blossoms After Winter.
In this role, the Publicist will be responsible for managing publicity efforts for a diverse list of authors and creators for both imprints, bringing enthusiasm, vision, and deep media knowledge to each campaign. The ideal candidate will have experience strategizing on and executing comics and graphic novel marketing and PR campaigns, and excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Lead, develop, and execute strategic publicity campaigns for frontlist and select backlist titles across the two imprints-building visibility through traditional and digital media, events, and influencer engagement.
• Deliver high-touch author care, serving as the primary point of contact throughout the campaign. Communicate effectively and consistently with authors, agents, licensors, and publishing stakeholders.
• Pitch and secure coverage with top-tier national and regional broadcast, print, podcast, and online media, including outlets focused on comics, graphic novels, manga/manhwa, and general pop culture coverage.
• Write impactful press materials, including press releases, media alerts, talking points, and original pitches tailored to each author and title.
• Plan and oversee author tours and event appearances, including travel logistics, bookstore coordination, and local media outreach.
• Collaborate closely with marketing, editorial, and sales teams to ensure integrated campaigns that align with imprint goals and author brand positioning.
• Represent titles and campaigns in internal publishing meetings and cross-functional team discussions.
• Manage budgets and campaign expenses, ensuring timely processing of invoices and adherence to financial guidelines.
• Track campaign performance and stay up to date on industry trends and evolving media landscapes.

• 5-7 years of experience in book publicity or a closely related field; preference for experience with comics, graphic novels, and manga/manhwa.
• Knowledge of the media landscape and a passion for comics and graphic novels are essential.
• Demonstrated success leading media-forward, author-focused campaigns with national reach.
• A strong network of media contacts across various platforms, with a proven ability to pitch effectively and creatively.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; persuasive, strategic, and confident in both pitching and presenting.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous campaigns, authors, and deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills; a collaborative team player and proactive self-starter.
• Experience coordinating author travel, events, and multi-city tours.
• Experience attending pop culture conventions (Comic-Con, etc.)
• Experience liaising with external stakeholders, such as licensing partners, a plus.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with publicity platforms such as MuckRack, Cision, NetGalley, and Canva is a plus.
This position is open to remote.
The salary for this position is $66,500. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
